As part of my Writers Omi residency I will be taking part with the other writers in my residency in two readings: one is a reading and Fall BBQ at Writers Omi on Saturday October 18 5pm. This sounds like great informal fun as there will be a reception afterwards.
The second event is a reading at KGB Bar in New York City. If you’re in town it would be lovely to see you there. Sunday, Nov 2, 7pm, 85 E.4th Street.

I’ve been asked to give a talk on Australia’s Future Submarine at the Sydney Mechanics School of Arts: 12:30pm on 29th September 2014 at the SMSA building on Pitt St.
Unfortunately illness meant I had to cancel this – a shame as I know there were a few looking forward to it. May reschedule for early next year – this issue won’t be going away any time soon.

I’m looking forward to the tomorrow’s Master Class as part of the ASAL 2014 Worlds Within Conference. I will be presenting my paper on Peter Carey’s short story Do You Love Me? (titled Must Australia Always Be Imaginary?) on Thursday 10th July at Sydney University.

My essay on the relationship between the fantasy of human space exploration – 2001 – and the reality – NASA – and whether humans will ever leave geostationary orbit again, is published in Overland, Autumn 2014.
